The Five at Five: Stavros Agapiou

9 Jun 2021

From hidden-gems to places to people-watch, from bookshops to beauty spots – The Five at Five offers some post-lockdown inspiration that celebrates the independents.

This week’s selection has been curated by DECORUM’s Creative Director, Stavros Agapiou, who takes a look at the global cities that inspire him and his definitive design eye.

Stavros Agapiou was actually DECORUM’s first ever employee. After graduating in digital film and screen arts, he quickly discovered that he would need money to survive living in London, and started working with his aunt at her Boxpark, Shoreditch store. However, what initially started as a means to an end, quickly saw the young creative fall in love with interiors and home design. Fast forward five years, and Stavros is now creative director of the growing home and lifestyle brand.

FOR FOOD
Hands down the best lowkey burrito, guac and chips in New York City – Benny’s Burritos is a must every time I visit.

FOR PEOPLE-WATCHING
Bel Ray (ΜΠΕΛ ΡΕΫ) is my favourite spot for people watching in Athens – it's a bar and cafe in the local neighbourhood of Koukaki.

FOR BOOKS
Artwords is the best place to browse all the over-priced magazines I stupidly spend all my money on. A great selection of coffee table books and new fiction too.

FOR SHOPPING
On the rare occasion I find myself not on the dance floor in Berghain, I head to Kreuzberg's Voo Store for their undeniably cool selection. The Store Berlin in Mitte also has a sleek selection of homeware – great inspiration for my brand, Decorum.

FOR WELLNESS
I really like escaping London to the Soho Farmhouse to detox and chill. I especially love the Cowshed CBD massages.
