A Little About This Space

Today, this stretch of Lower Manhattan is mainly reserved for business savvy ventures and tech start-ups whose employees prefer artisanal coffee shops and industrial-chic cantines to the water cooler. The brick archway of this waterfront retail space harkens back to New York’s glory days of cobblestone streets and railroad stations (wave to the nearby High Line), and is right by the historic building’s lobby.

THE CROWD

This is one of the more breathable spots in Lower Manhattan, and one that comes into full-force during the lunch hour. Locals come to shoot hoops by the Doughboy statue in Chelsea Park on afternoons, and on spring weekends tourists can be seen grabbing a sunset beer at the The Frying Pan, a nearby ship-turned- bar. Get there by way of the M11 or M12 bus.

MEET THE NEIGHBORS

You’re next to La Colombe Coffee Roasters, Between the Bread, and Porchlight, a bar that caters well to the business set (you’re also a hop and a skip from Midtown) by serving moonshine via finance-bro- friendly terms like, “a southern-inspired cocktail.” Opposite is Busamove and Lamborghini.

Home Truths

Transportation is a pain, and the area isn’t as busy as the neighboring waterfront zone by the Whitney Museum. In other words, you shouldn’t expect many tourists, but you’ll probably get a few straying souls during the weekend.
