A Little About This Space

Behind the inconspicuous storefronts of the East Village, you'll often come across the best food finds and bars in the city. The side streets are dotted with locally-owned conveniences, vintage stores and jewellery shops. On East 5th Street, this former office space with a storage room and kitchen at the back is being emptied out for retail use.

THE CROWD

The area attracts a young, laid-back crowd comprised of long-time residents, curious tourists and foodies. People flock here for the diverse set of entertainment East Village has to offer: from vintage thrift stores and tattoo parlors to quirky bars such as the Tim Burton-inspired Beetle House. Upscale Basque-inspired restaurants like Huertas and kitschy Indian eateries like Pana II, which famously featured in Sex and the City, draw visitors to the area in the evenings.

MEET THE NEIGHBORS

The space sits on a residential block but there are plenty of hip restaurants a few doors down including risotto specialists, Risotteria Melotti NYC, and Three of Cups Italian restaurant, a good spot for live music in the evenings and on Saturdays. On the corner of the next block, there's the homely Italian restaurant, Frank, and eco-conscious burger joint, Bareburger.
